SkinnyDip

Fancy a Midsummer SkinnyDip?!

On Sunday June 19th, at around 7am on a beach in the beautiful Gower peninsula in South Wales, a crowd of lovely people will be getting ready to strip off and peg it like happy flamingos with shouts of ‘WOOHOO!’ and ‘YEEHAH!’ and ‘AAAAAAH! I’VE GOT NO CLOTHES ON!!!’ right into the sea.

They’ll be sponsored for their splashing around and aim to raise £5000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. They’re also aiming to break the world record for the most number of skinny dippers in one location… but they need around 300 people for that to happen, so if you’re free, and have the urge to release your inner SkinnyDipper (and let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be a World Record Holder?!)…then find out more at

www.midsummerskinnydip.co.uk

Because we think it’s such a fab idea to support such a fab charity, the highest fundraiser will get their choice of SkinnyDip (up to £35) delivered absolutely free. So come on, sign up to SkinnyDip!

The latest batch of Viva La Diva is still warm in the pan and, oh boy, it looks like rich, creamy custard. I now have the most unbelievable cravings for custard…..

It’s been a crazy day, but this is how it all began. At 6am, collecting spring water from the glorious Malvhina.

Spears of green, skies of grey!

Pitter patter, drip, drip…it was undoubtedly grey outside, but green inside at the Asparagus Festival day at The Fleece Inn yesterday.

There was Asparagus soup, Asparagus burgers and local celebrity chef Felice Tocchini even made a white chocolate and asparagus cake. Oh yes, and SkinnyDip’s very own Asparagus hand cream and lust potion.

Plenty of brollies, wellies and splashing in big puddles. Well, we can’t let a bit of rain spoil the fun.

Lusting over asparagus!

Here at SkinnyDip, we LOVE using local ingredients. And what could be better than Worcestershire asparagus? So, for one batch only, to celebrate being at the British Asparagus Festival day at The Fleece Inn, I’m proud to introduce our Cream of Asparagus hand cream and lust potion.

The famous herbalist Culpeper in 1653 claimed that asparagus could ‘stir up bodily lust in man or woman’. So we won’t be held responsible for any untoward behaviour this lust potion may induce. But I can promise it has all the goodness (and the heavenly scent) of our Butter Fingers hand cream so it will certainly heal dry, cracked hands and split fingertips.

Treat your hands this Bank Holiday!

I don’t know about you, but my Bank Holidays always go hand-in-hand with a list of things I never get time to do. Find the garden amongst the weeds, paint at least half a fence panel, find out what really is in the shed…

So, just in case your hands will be particularly hard-working this weekend, I’ve got a little SkinnyDip treat. Until Tuesday 31st May, I’ve gone hand cream crazy.

Buy one jar for £7, two for £12.50 or three for £18.

Find them all at http://www.skinny-dip.co.uk/sdshop/index.php/default/hands

Our webshop isn’t clever enough to mix ‘n’ match, so email Emma@skinny-dip.co.uk if you’d like a selection. If you truly want to swim in the stuff, you can buy more than three at £6 each.

And remember Father’s Day is just around the corner. I’ve had brilliant bloke feedback for Miracle Balm this week.

I often get asked how I get the cream in the jars. Quite simply, I hand-pipe it. And that is exactly what I have spent the morning doing.

Hand cream, foot cream and something with an air of asparagus about it!

SkinnyDipping at the Malvern Spring Garden Show

Sunshine and showers, split fingertips and cracked knuckles… we saw it all last weekend. From budding gardeners to the most devoted horticulturists, you guys certainly put your hands through their paces.

Our hand creams flew off the shelves. I even had to make three extra batches on Friday night as we were so close to running out - so you weekend SkinnyDippers officially have the freshest hand cream in Malvern!

Keep SkinnyDipping! I promise you a brand new pair of hands in no time.

Gorgeous gifts for under a tenner!

Let’s face it, SkinnyDipping is far more fun than scoffing chocolate this Easter. You’ll find a gaggle of gorgeous gift ideas on our website which are the perfect way to say ‘Happy Easter’, ‘Happy Birthday’ or just ‘You’re Rather Nice’.

At £9.95, not only are they pretty, but they are cheaper than buying the product separately. More tempting than chocolate bunnies? Yes siree!

Order by Wednesday 20th to get in time for Easter.

Our new neighbours

I’d had a right old funny week with the farmer. I couldn’t fathom what he was doing outdoors; pacing his field, hammering this and shaking that. And he looked rather puzzled at what I was doing indoors; clattering pans, swirls of steam and heavenly scents.

And then, during a midnight SkinnyDip-making session, I had the fright of my life. The pitch black farm was no longer quietly eerie: There were sounds worthy of a horror movie… heavy breathing…stumbling….groaning and squealing.

Aaaargh! An INTRUDER! I panicked and fled into the night; heart racing, cold sweats. In fact, I almost fainted with fright.

But the next morning I was greeted with a field full of calves, bounding recklessly in their new-found freedom. Hmmmm, so feeling rather wimpish I started to name each and every one of them.

Gertrude, Matilda, Buttercup, Florence….
