Any excuse for more naked bottoms….

You may remember over 400 extremely brave and utterly naked people taking a dip on the beautiful Welsh Gower back on Midsummer’s day. All in the name of breaking the Guinness World Record for SkinnyDipping.

Well no news yet on the World Record, but they have raised a cracking £22,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. The top fundraiser, Emma Ireland, has alone raised £1,340 and she’ll receive a nice bundle of SkinnyDip all wrapped up with oodles of respect.

What a brilliant bunch. And hat’s off to organiser Alison, from whose email I learned how to type a bottom, hee hee! (_I_)

Another plumtastic bank holiday at the Pershore Plum Festival.

A big THANK YOU to all the loyal SkinnyDippers out there who came to say ‘hello’ and how really rather lovely to meet so many new people, including Mr Plum (talk to his stalk, not to his face!).

Our marzipan flavoured, Spiced Plum & Vanilla lip balm definitely has the love-it-or-hate-it factor. Marzipan hell or marzipan heaven: someone even suggested I make a marmite version, but that is just plain wrong!

It’s the Moreton In Marsh show this Saturday and I’ll be SkinnyDipping in the green...

It’s the Moreton In Marsh show this Saturday and I’ll be SkinnyDipping in the green living and self sufficiency area (Brigit Strawbridge will be there talking bees… I’m sooo excited).

I’ll also be demonstrating how I make some of our wonderful products… but what to make? I’m still scratching my head about that one.

SkinnyDip Summer Work Experience

We’re on the lookout for student to help us with the filming and editing of some short videos for the website during July and August. It’d be fab CV or portfolio experience for an ITC, media, business or film studies student (all other disciplines welcome too) and there is also cash involved!

We’re not looking for anything theatrical, but creativity, reliability and professionalism are very welcome.

If you know an A level or university student or recent graduate who might be interested, nudge them to email emma@skinny-dip.co.uk and I’ll send them a full role profile.

And, please do manage their expectations; the only SkinnyDipping happening will be the making of cream!

A little treat from our compost heap; literally hundreds of sunny calendula plants without us even planting a seed. And I couldn’t be happier (although I’m sure the courgettes, peas, broccalli and fennel could).

These sunshine flowers are wonderfully soothing for sensitive skin - I used them to help my daughter’s eczema way back in the days before SkinnyDip. So everyday, we grab our scissors, harvest and dry the flowers ready to make some delicious potions.

Well they only went and did it! 408 SkinnyDippers raising over £14,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care on the glorious Gower Penisular on Sunday.

Fancy a Midsummer SkinnyDip?!

On Sunday June 19th, at around 7am on a beach in the beautiful Gower peninsula in South Wales, a crowd of lovely people will be getting ready to strip off and peg it like happy flamingos with shouts of ‘WOOHOO!’ and ‘YEEHAH!’ and ‘AAAAAAH! I’VE GOT NO CLOTHES ON!!!’ right into the sea.

They’ll be sponsored for their splashing around and aim to raise £5000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. They’re also aiming to break the world record for the most number of skinny dippers in one location… but they need around 300 people for that to happen, so if you’re free, and have the urge to release your inner SkinnyDipper (and let’s face it, who doesn’t want to be a World Record Holder?!)…then find out more at

Pitter patter, drip, drip…it was undoubtedly grey outside, but green inside at the Asparagus Festival day at The Fleece Inn yesterday.

There was Asparagus soup, Asparagus burgers and local celebrity chef Felice Tocchini even made a white chocolate and asparagus cake. Oh yes, and SkinnyDip’s very own Asparagus hand cream and lust potion.

Plenty of brollies, wellies and splashing in big puddles. Well, we can’t let a bit of rain spoil the fun.

I don’t know about you, but my Bank Holidays always go hand-in-hand with a list of things I never get time to do. Find the garden amongst the weeds, paint at least half a fence panel, find out what really is in the shed…

Sunshine and showers, split fingertips and cracked knuckles… we saw it all last weekend. From budding gardeners to the most devoted horticulturists, you guys certainly put your hands through their paces.

Our new neighbours

I’d had a right old funny week with the farmer. I couldn’t fathom what he was doing outdoors; pacing his field, hammering this and shaking that. And he looked rather puzzled at what I was doing indoors; clattering pans, swirls of steam and heavenly scents.

And then, during a midnight SkinnyDip-making session, I had the fright of my life. The pitch black farm was no longer quietly eerie: There were sounds worthy of a horror movie… heavy breathing…stumbling….groaning and squealing.

Aaaargh! An INTRUDER! I panicked and fled into the night; heart racing, cold sweats. In fact, I almost fainted with fright.

But the next morning I was greeted with a field full of calves, bounding recklessly in their new-found freedom. Hmmmm, so feeling rather wimpish I started to name each and every one of them.

Gertrude, Matilda, Buttercup, Florence….
